Ghostward Privacy Policy

Ghostward is operated by SideWalk Oracle LLC d/b/a Ghostward (“Ghostward,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

We respect your privacy and designed Ghostward to provide its core tour and navigation features with minimal collection of personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how Ghostward accesses, uses, stores, and handles information when you use the Ghostward mobile application.

1. Information We Do Not Require

Ghostward does not require you to create an account or sign in to use the application.

Ghostward does not require you to provide your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, or other contact information in order to use the app.

Ghostward does not currently operate a user-account database containing your tour history or location history.

2. Location Services

Ghostward uses Apple's Location Services to provide location-based features such as:

  • Displaying your position relative to tour locations

  • Calculating distances to destinations

  • Providing route and navigation information

  • Identifying nearby Ghostward locations

  • Confirming when you have physically reached a tour location

  • Providing GPS-verified visit status

  • Supporting location-based tour progress

Ghostward requests location access while you are using the app. The current version requests Apple's “When In Use” location authorization rather than requiring continuous background-location access.

Your device's current location is used to calculate proximity and distances to Ghostward destinations.

Ghostward does not currently maintain a stored history of your raw GPS coordinates. Current location information is used while the app is operating to provide location-based functionality.

Ghostward may locally record that you successfully visited or reached a particular tour location, including the Ghostward location identifier and completion date.

You can change or disable location access at any time through your device's iOS Location Services settings. Some Ghostward features, including GPS verification, distance calculations, and location-aware navigation, may not function correctly if location access is disabled.

3. Apple Maps and MapKit

Ghostward uses Apple MapKit and Apple mapping services to display maps, destinations, routes, and other location-related information.

Ghostward may provide information such as your current location and selected destination to Apple mapping technologies as necessary to provide mapping and routing functionality.

Apple operates its own services and may process information according to Apple's own privacy practices. Ghostward does not control Apple's independent collection or processing of information through Apple platform services.

4. Tour Progress and Locally Stored Information

Ghostward stores certain information locally on your device so the application can remember your progress and preferences.

Depending on the features you use, locally stored information may include:

  • Locations or stories you have viewed

  • GPS-verified visits

  • Completed tour locations

  • Favorite locations

  • Visit or completion dates

  • Ghostward capture information

  • Notes you create

  • Saved photo references

  • Guided-tour status and selected destinations

  • Application preferences and settings

This information is used to provide Ghostward features such as progress tracking, favorites, GPS-verified visits, certificates, and tour continuity.

Ghostward does not currently transmit this locally stored tour-progress information to a Ghostward user-account server.

5. Photos and User Notes

Ghostward may allow you to create notes or capture and save photographs associated with tour locations.

Notes are stored locally on your device.

Photos saved through Ghostward's capture features are stored locally by the application on your device.

Ghostward does not currently upload these photos or notes to a Ghostward server.

You should avoid entering sensitive or confidential information into free-form notes if you do not want that information stored on your device.

6. Purchases and In-App Purchases

Ghostward may be offered as a paid application and may offer additional Ghostward city tours or other digital content through Apple In-App Purchase.

Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and StoreKit systems.

Ghostward does not directly collect or store your payment-card number or banking information.

Ghostward may receive transaction or entitlement information from Apple that is necessary to determine whether you purchased or have access to a particular Ghostward product, city, or feature.

Payment information maintained independently by Apple is subject to Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices.

7. Analytics, Advertising and Tracking

Ghostward does not currently require a Ghostward account system and does not currently include third-party advertising or behavioral tracking.

Ghostward does not sell your personal information.

Ghostward does not use your location for third-party advertising.

Ghostward does not use your information to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

If analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, cloud storage, or similar third-party services are added to Ghostward in the future, this Privacy Policy and applicable App Store privacy disclosures will be updated as appropriate.

8. Safety and Legal Notices

Ghostward requires acceptance of its Terms of Use & Waiver before use and presents safety reminders concerning walking, driving, surroundings, and lawful access.

Users are reminded not to interact with Ghostward while driving, to stop walking before interacting with the screen, to remain aware of traffic and other hazards, and to remain on public or otherwise lawfully accessible property.

GPS locations, map markers, routes, geofences, and other location-based features are provided for informational and technical purposes and do not represent permission to enter private, restricted, closed, or unsafe property.

Acceptance of Ghostward's Terms of Use & Waiver and acknowledgment of safety reminders do not create a Ghostward user account and are separate from this Privacy Policy.

9. Data Retention, Permissions and Deletion

Most Ghostward tour information described in this Privacy Policy is stored locally on your device.

Ghostward includes functionality for resetting locally stored progress information. Depending on the current application version, resetting progress may remove stored viewed locations, GPS-verification information, captures, favorites, visit dates, notes, and locally stored Ghostward capture-photo references.

Because Ghostward does not currently maintain a Ghostward user-account database containing your tour history or location history, there generally is no corresponding Ghostward server-side account data to delete.

You may manage permissions such as location and camera access through your device's iOS Settings.

Deleting Ghostward from your device may remove application data stored within Ghostward's local application storage, subject to Apple's iOS storage and backup behavior.

Information independently maintained by Apple, including App Store purchase records, is subject to Apple's policies and account-management systems.

10. Children's Privacy

Ghostward does not require children to create accounts or provide Ghostward with personal contact information.

Ghostward's Terms of Use & Waiver must be accepted by an adult who is 18 years of age or older.

Minors should use Ghostward only under the supervision and responsibility of a parent or legal guardian, particularly because Ghostward involves walking, navigation, streets, historic districts, public spaces, and physical tour locations.

Ghostward is not currently offered as an application specifically directed to children or as an application in Apple's Kids Category.

11. Security

Ghostward is designed to minimize the amount of information transmitted or centrally stored by Ghostward.

Locally stored application information remains subject to the security protections provided by the user's device and iOS.

No electronic storage or software system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Ghostward seeks to reduce privacy risks by keeping core tour-progress information on the user's device whenever practical.

12. Third-Party Services

Ghostward relies on certain Apple technologies and services, including:

Apple iOS Location Services
Used to determine your location when you authorize location access.

Apple MapKit / Apple Maps
Used for maps, destinations, routing, and navigation-related functionality.

Apple App Store / StoreKit
Used for application purchases, in-app purchases, and determining access to purchased digital content.

These services are operated by Apple and are subject to Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Ghostward may update this Privacy Policy when the application, its features, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.

When this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on the Ghostward website and the Effective Date at the top of this policy will be changed.

If Ghostward begins collecting or handling information in a materially different manner, we will update this Privacy Policy and applicable App Store privacy disclosures as appropriate.
